Yesterday, 8.4.2024, I participated in one of the most emotionally moving events, which combines my long-standing love for my best friend in the world - Leah Rabin z"l, for ALUT – which was her life’s mission and her soul's desire, and for contribution to Israeli society.
The President of the State of Israel, Isaac Herzog, and his wife, the First Lady Michal Herzog, hosted at the President's Residence the annual event of ALUT in memory of Mrs. Leah Rabin z"l, the founder of ALUT, to mark 50 years since its establishment and to commemorate her birthday which is also on this date.
As part of the ALUT jubilee event at the President's Residence, ALUT Chairman Gadi Weinrib presented the President of Israel with "The Haggadah of Hope" for Passover, which combines drawings by children and graduates of ALUT with drawings by children from the Gaza envelope, specially prepared and created for the President by Kibbutz Be’eri Print and symbolizing the inspiring mosaic of creativity, resilience, and hope.
As a member of the ALUT Public Council, I, along with my wife Hila, awarded scholarships of excellence in memory of Leah Rabin z"l to outstanding ALUT employees. The scholarships were received by: Racheli Rotfeld, Orit Amgar, Galit Shmuel, and Yael Kravitz El-Al.
Furthermore, a scholarship for studies was awarded in memory of Osnat Ravid z"l, who was the founder and director of the Gil School for Special Education in Tel Aviv, courtesy of her family and her husband, Dr. Gadi Ravid.
Hila and I feel a great honor and immense excitement at this event, especially as it takes place on the birthday of Leah Rabin z"l, who did not live to see all this light and goodness and to enjoy the fruits of her labor.
We cherish and appreciate the thousands of ALUT employees who continue in the path of Leah Rabin as the founder of this non-profit institution, for the autistic children in Israel and the entire Israeli society.
