The eya-docrors delegation which had left Israel a month ago to the Marshall Islands and Micronesia in order to voluntarily operate on eyes, returned to Israel after great success in the Pacific area by saving the ability to see for many people.
The delegation went out in behalf of the "Eye from Zion" organization and MASHAV, led by the ambassador HAIM DIVON.
The senior medical staff included Prof. Dov Winberger the head of eyes division at Rabin medical center, the head of the delegation Dr. Yaron Lang from Haemek hospital, Dr. Yiftah Yassur from Rabin medical center, Dr. Yoav Verdizer from Rotchild hospital and the medical equipment engineer Mr. Hovav Nottman, in addition to the special medical equipment is what had gave the ability to perform complicate surgeries on retinas and oculoplastics surgeries.
Natty Marcus, the chairman of "Eye from Zion", said that they introduced the nice and other "face" of Israel, especially in such complicated days like these days. There was only one goal for the delegation ?saving the seeing ability of hundreds of the habitants, by great desire, determination and professionalism of a great and well known medical team. The delegation had succeeded with the goals that it wanted to achieve and won the popularity and admiration from the people there.
Marcus also said the humanitaric aid is in the top of "Eye from Zion"'s priority. Due to the success of this delegation, we are looking into sending, with MASHAV and ambassador Divon, a folding operation room ?a very important tool though very technological and expensive. The OR would travel between the islands on a sea plane with a small medical team and operate on the residents with the need.
Ran Rahav, the honorary consule of the Marshal Islands in Israel said that "this is a thrilling humanitaric activity. The lovely people there who received the treatment, and usual to receive aid from non-experienced Taiwany doctors, met for the first time in their life a well trained and experienced medical team which is also known in the world for its achievements: curing hundreds of patients. Time after time, the state of Israel shows the world that in addition to the extraordinary helping and volunteering spirit, the level of expertise here in the medical section is one of the highest in the world.
